Once again reports have been received from members of the public about
them being targeted by cold-callers purporting to be from Microsoft,
phoning to fix a (fake) computer problem. In all cases the computer
does not have a fault, the caller is not Microsoft and in some cases the
owner has given a complete stranger access to every piece of data on
their machine. Police in the UK are powerless to stop them. Microsoft
does not make unsolicited calls to help fix your computer. Please hang
up and never pay any money for this kind of fake service.
