The aim of the Community Fund is to deliver positive change across three key areas within North Yorkshire communities:
- To make key community locations be safer or feel safer
- To provide services which aim to prevent people from becoming victims of crime or anti-social behaviour, or decrease the chance of people becoming repeat victims
- To provide services which aim to prevent people from becoming offenders, or decrease the chance of people becoming repeat offenders
Julia Mulligan said “Over the past two years I have seen how Community Fund projects have benefitted communities all across North Yorkshire and I am really pleased to be able to provide funding again. This is a great opportunity for people to apply for funding for innovative projects that support communities to Be Safe and Feel Safe, the vision set out in the Police and Crime plan.”
Grants will be awarded from £500 up to £20,000 and they will be given for specific projects including:
- Extra-curricular or ‘diversionary’ activities for children and young people
- Promoting safety and reducing the fear of crime and anti-social behaviour
- Support for victims
- Improving community cohesion
- Preventing crime and anti-social behaviour
- Supporting the purchase of specific pieces of equipment
