Happy Christmas to you all, lets try and make it as safe as we
can. Currently we’re having problems with thieves targeting commercial
vehicles such as transit vans and taking tools, we’re making progress
with these and have identified one male who is currently helping us with our
enquiries but we’ve also been having problems in Crosshills with someone entering
all sorts of vehicles and taking small items including a childs rounders bat
and a multi tool alongside small amounts of cash that we all tend to have lying
around, with these crimes no damage is caused when they make entry and several
complainants have stated they have left their vehicles unsecure so please lock your
cars when you park up and if possible take any valuables and bags away with you
or move them out of sight, in the past we’ve had a bag of dirty washing
stolen by opportunistic thieves it wasn’t much in value but they broke
the window to gain entry causing a mess and making the car unusable for a day.
On a more local note we’ve been having complaints of
youths gathering at the entrance to Acre Road, they’ve been meeting there
for some time and normally don’t cause a problem but numbers have grown
and there’s been a problem with one or two knocking on doors and ‘playing’
in peoples gardens, we’ve been speaking with them and offering words of
advice, hopefully they’ll be able to police themselves but if the
problems continue the trouble causers will be identified and dealt with. If you
know anyone in the area having problems please encourage them to phone 101 and
report issues at the time with descriptions of any individuals causing problems,
we won’t be moving the group on just because they are on a street but behaviour
must be appropriate for the residential area and officers will be happy to deal
with any issues reported or noted on our routine patrols. As the trouble
causers are identified it’s possible they may move to other areas of the
village so if you know of any problem areas please flag them up so that we can
attend at appropriate times to check on the youths behaviour.
We’ve also had a number of thefts from the doorsteps
of several properties of milk, eggs and orange juice these have been reported
as crimes and are being investigated. They have all occurred in the early hours
between 03:00 and 07:00 if you’ve seen anything suspicious or know who is
responsible please call 101 or report to Ray, Tracy or Linda.
With the festive time upon us no doubt many houses will have
lots of new items nicely boxed up and ready to give out for Christmas, this
coupled with dark nights and closed curtains makes it an ideal time for
burglars to strike. Please keep receipts separate to gifts and if possible record
serial numbers, this can be done electronically (for free) on www.immobilise.com or just on the back of
the receipt, it’s also a good idea to leave gifts out of sight to help
reduce the chance of being targeted. After Christmas day I’m sure you’ll
all have lots of wrapping and boxes to dispose of, it’s good practice not
to advertise your new tv, ipad or games console so whenever possible try to
dispose of the boxes ASAP either using a recycling point or bin if available
and not to leave them at the road side.
As always please keep up the good work, thank you.
