During the summer months it gets very busy in the rural areas of Craven,
North Yorkshire. There are plenty of beauty spots to visit. Just bear
in mind, that when you visit these places and you leave your vehicle to
go off for the day, that you don't leave it vulnerable. We have had a
spate of thefts from unoccupied motor vehicles in Craven Rural, within
the last 12 months. Traveling criminals have visited the area in the
past and have smashed vehicle windows, to grab items left on display.
Items such as handbags, rucksacks, and camera equipment. At times we
find insecure vehicles. Please be vigilant and bear the following in
mind:
. Don't leave anything in your vehicle - if it's not there, then it can't be stolen.
.
Thieves aren't too picky, so don't leave even low-value items in your
vehicle. Often thieves will smash and grab first and look later to see
if what they've stolen is valuable.
. If you cannot avoid leaving something in your vehicle, put it in the boot before you go.
. Always lock and secure your vehicle.
If you witness any suspicious activity regarding the above, please call North Yorkshire Police asap on 101 and report it.
